AED 104 Engaged Learning
I understand engaged learning to be a student-centred learning process which makes use of IT resources such as blogs, data-loggers, discussion forums and so on. This week's reading discussed constructivism which views learning as the product of experience and social discourse and hence, highlights the importance of a learner-centred classroom, where students are active participants of the learning process, rather than passive observers as in the traditional teacher-centred classrooms. Technological tools can be used to enhance this type of learning because students can use them to conduct research, or express their views and findings, and open up possibilities for social discussion such as when students comment on each other's blog posts.
